The focus for the marine industry in January is all about BOAT SHOWS. This year Berthon stepped up to the mark and headed for Boot following the London Boat Show. Regardless of what you hear about this show – there is nothing that can prepare you for the sheer size of it!
Consisting of 17 halls and covering every aspect of sailing, boating, motor yachts and water sports, this is the flagship show for the marine industry in Europe, in all its imaginable facets, from the super cool and sublime to the bizarre and weird. Along with all the major manufacturers’ stands, there is even an indoor sailing and windsurfing arena, a kayaking river, fly fishing pond, and a gigantic dive tank, all housed in a state of the art facility with great transport links. Put it in your diary for 2016.
With around a quarter of a million visitors from 60 countries and 1,700 exhibitors, it is the biggest and best boat show on the planet. The first Saturday alone attracts some 50,000 visitors, half of the total London Boat Show’s attendance over ten days!
Berthon also had new yacht commitments at the Show:-
Windy – Ben Toogood, Windy UK’s Sales Manager, and Bruno Kairet, from Berthon France, were on hand during the show – along with the other Windy dealers. This year the Windy team unveiled the new sunpad layout for the Windy 39 Camira, also showing the Draco 27RS, the 26 Kharma, 29 Coho, 31 Zonda and the Windy 40 Maestro.
Ben Toogood said “This is the show I always enjoy, meeting clients from all over Europe, but also the opportunity to meet other Windy dealers from our ever expanding family. This year the show has been extremely positive with interest across the full range, especially the new sunpad arrangement on the Windy 39 Camira and the European Powerboat of the Year Award for the Draco 27RS is a very positive step as this iconic brand resurfaces for the day boat and tender market.”

World Cruising Club – our colleagues at the World Cruising Club were also present with WCC Director Jeremy Wyatt stating “the show was great for WCC and we are pleased with the very international response we have received; we had visitors from over 15 countries and some serious interest in the 2016 ARC and beyond”.
Berthon and WCC discussed details of the next World Cruising Club Bluewater Open Boat Weekend, held last year at our HQ in Lymington, so watch this space for confirmation of this year’s dates.
