First splashed 2015, AQUALUNA is the first of the Discovery 58s to be delivered to her current owners, who traded up from a Discovery 55. With 45% more interior volume than the benchmark bluewater 55, AQUALUNA is comfortable and accommodating. With her Ron Holland lines and Ken Frevoijk interior, she has all the qualities for which the 55 is renowned.
You can catch her on film –
Having sailed their Discovery 55 through the Pacific to New Zealand, they used this experience to specify Discovery 58 AQUALUNA for world cruising in great comfort, making good use of their knowledge of Discovery.
This previous Discovery experience also informed their choice of a single wheel, and powerful fully battened mainsail, for control and easy, rewarding sailing. They have sailed her a lot 2-handed and this setup has been ideal.
Her interior is executed in maple making her the signature Discovery deck saloon. With light flooding in, lovely aft cabin vertical windows and large hull ports, the interior is very liveable and extremely light and airy. Of course, her raised nav. station, as with all Discoverys, provides the perfect place for watch keeping during passages, which is super comfortable and greatly assists in keeping small crews fresh and comfortable.
Since launch, AQUALUNA has sailed the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic with the ARC. She has provided comfortable and easy living with fast passage times between the islands whilst stationed in the Caribbean. Sadly, her owners’ plans to head through the Panama Canal and then to begin the next stage of a world cruise have been shelved.
Thus, AQUALUNA was sailed home to the Solent this year, and has been pitstopped by Berthon ready for her new owners.
The normal end of passage work list has been rectified and cosmetics such as re-varnishing the companionway steps and refreshing veneers where needed have been completed. She is now ready to be seen and we invite you to visit and have a look at this great yacht
We are carrying out all viewings whilst observing social distancing rules. If AQUALUNA is interesting here is the griff.
