This year was the 6th Bluewater Weekend – held at our Lymington HQ 21st & 22nd June. We hold it annually, at Berthon in conjunction with the World Cruising Club.
We had a selection of brokerage yachts on display along with a good number of yachts owned by yachtsmen who had been there and done it. They were kindly on hand to talk to delegates about their experiences and what worked best for them. Others talked about how they have prepared their yachts ready to head off this year, including a 60ft catamaran, which is heading off on the ARC in November 2019.
The sun shone and Saturday started with Sophie Kemp from Berthon International talking about the process of buying a yacht; from the initial search, to the dreaded VAT. Also on hand from Berthon were Alan McIlroy, Michael White and Sue Grant.
The day carried on with a variety of talks and the chance to have a look aboard the brokerage bluewater yachts that are available for sale at Berthon.
A BBQ lunch was provided on site by Lymington Town Sailing Club, which was delicious.
The afternoon comprised of talks and panel discussion from the experts.
Sundowner drinks of wine were enjoyed by all before heading down to LTSC for dinner. Over 80 people had a great dinner at the Club.
Sunday morning talks carried on and there was more time for delegates to browse the yachts before everyone headed home mid-afternoon.
Brian May took groups of people on yard tours throughout the weekend which are always a roaring success. The tour ventures into the big blue sheds and there are always lots of impressive noises as people learn what lurks behind the doors of the various buildings.
Watch this space and join us for next year’s event, which will be happening in June 2020. We hope that you will save the date.
