The 2014 Jersey boat show took place over the 3rd – 5thof May at St Helier Marina in the heart of the Islands capital. The Jersey Boat Show has now firmly established itself as the largest free entry event in the Channel Islands and is organised and promoted by Ports of Jersey.
The show was first staged in 2008 as a means of supporting and showcasing our local marine leisure industry and since then has expanded to become the largest free-entry event in the Channel Islands. Our objective in supporting the industry remains just as strong as ever but has become a great community event with a number of lifestyle exhibitors also taking place alongside marine traders.
Boasting glorious weather throughout the three days, the show has continued to build on its success in 2014 with remarkable attendance over 40,000, and a festival atmosphere rarely found at other shows. The Royal Navy were present for the 7th consecutive year bringing with them a whole host of sea vessels, support craft and a Lynx helicopter.
For the daredevil visitors there was also a charity bungee jump over the weekend; in 2013 more than 140 islanders and visitors jumped and raised over £13,000 for charity.
Ben Toogood & Hugh Rayner from the Berthon Brokerage team were on hand to display the new Windy 39 Camira making her UK debut at the show having been recently delivered to her new owner at Berthon. With production sold out “off-plan” for summer 2014 before the model was even officially announced, both brokers commented that the Camira was extremely well received by all; accordingly, don’t wait too long to write a cheque for delivery this winter.
The Channel Islands continue to prove a key market for the Windy Boats, which are ideally suited to the more challenging sea conditions, taking into account their DNA of exceptional sea keeping and quality of build.
