From the board of Otto Brinksma, and built at Altena, CANICHER is a very special Dutch ship. She is full of custom details and updates from original build in which her current and original owner was very much involved. He started the process by purchasing a Grand Banks to experience and learn about motor yachts and what would work for him best. When he commissioned CANICHER he was able to bring this experience to bear in order to ensure that she would provide the platform for explorer yachting that he wanted. She is far from being a standard yacht. She delivers with her great sea keeping, good deck space for the family and a large and airy main saloon. At sea, she is a stable platform. The engine room is logical and set out for ease of maintenance with everything in its place. There is even a sink! There is a large owners’ stateroom and good quarters for the rest of the family forward with two good cabins. She has been professionally maintained through life. The owners’ requirements have now changed and so CANCIHER is offered for sale after at pitstop at Berthon including new topsides paints and many other thoughtful upgrades and with many maintenance items dealt with. She is ready for her new family.
A truly exceptional one off vessel designed for ocean crossings with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of comfort. Built by Altena, she is CE class A overall and Bureau Veritas below the waterline. The design adheres to key passagemaker ratios. Her hull is closely framed with 6mm steel below the waterline, 5mm above and a 15mm plate running the full length of her keel. She is designed to take green water on deck and knock downs with a vanishing angle of stability of 120 degrees. She is stabilised and she has redundancy on all systems. She was launched in 1998, finished in 2004, and has been meticulously maintained under the continuous supervision of a surveyor.
