Broker’s Comments

From the shipbuilding heart of Finland, with 500 years of family experience, the Baltic yard has truly deserved its enviable reputation of the world’s finest large sailing yacht yard. From humble beginnings in 1973, formed by a few ex Nautor employees who decided that lighter was better, to the large operation it is today, employing 280 of the world’s best carbon boat builders producing state of the art carbon fibre yachts up to 200 ft.

The Baltic 66 was the largest of the production range. Interior layouts were flexible, but the underlying principle of light displacement and seaworthiness were top of the order form.

The genius concept to house the noisy engineering in an excellently engineered and soundproofed standalone room in the aft section of the yacht, well away from the main saloon, owners cabin, but close to and integrated into the crew mess (unheard of in a 66 ft yacht) allows families to live quite privately, and in total peace when sailing at night.

SEI TU II is run very simply. Due to the complete carbon structure, hull, deck, furniture and even system trays (with aramid fibres added for impact resistance), displacement is incredibly low. Therefore, systems are reduced, loads are less and demand on fuel is also reduced leading to a very simple, but effective yacht, without the requirements for banks of generators, watermakers, etc. etc. that you may find on other heavy, uninspiring yachts to sail.

She even has an increased draft to 3.8 as opposed to the standard 3.6m to lower displacement, with a lighter bulb, but slightly increasing righting moment.

A sleek deck layout gives a nod to her performance end occasional racing pedigree, and maximises outdoor space for cruising.

A full lazaretto swallows the hard bottom RIB and seals perfectly while under way, alongside the carbon (naturally) telescopic passarelle extending from the starboard aft sections.

SEI TU II is very well maintained; she comes out of the water every winter and spends her down time under a complete winter cover, to keep the weather away from the deck, which is in exceptional condition for her age. All rigging is removed and kept with her sails and other inventory in dry storage for the next season.

SEI TU II has been in the same family ownership from new, and is the owners second Baltic yacht. A successful software company owner, the yacht has a custom monitoring software that is simply accessed through a mobile phone, quite incredible.
