Broker’s Comments

Barbary 32, SULA II was last surveyed in January 2022. She is a well-built and sturdy centre cockpit motorsailer. Recent works include fitting of the ‘Tek-Dek’ light teak ‘TrakMark’ non-slip decking in 2018 and epoxy coated below the waterline as a preventative measure in 2000. She is now out the water with new anti-foul and is ready to set sail to her new adventures.

Owner’s Comments

We are reluctantly putting SULA II – our Barbary “Power Ketch” motorsailer up for sale, due to moving abroard and not being in the UK for the foreseeable future. These yachts are known to be superb cruising yachts, with an excellent following. SULA II is packed with gear and ready to sail away today. The Barbary’s were originally moulded to Lloyds 100A1 and designed by Walter Rayner, built by Robert Ives and fitted out by Fredrick Mitchell and Sons of Poole. I would recommend going to the Barbary Association owner’s site http://www.barbaryketch.co.uk/. There is lots of information from current and past owners giving very good reviews. The designer Walter Rayner preferred them to be described as “power ketches” not motorsailers – this is borne out by their superior sailing capabilities / performance, hull shape compared to others, such as Fishers and Coaster 33s.
