K&M Yachtbuilders have a very established and well-deserved reputation for building strongly constructed ocean cruising yachts with classic lines. From the drawing board of Gerard Dijkstra, the Bestevaer 60C differs from the other Bestevaer designs as the yacht has a larger interior volume. She has ample living space aboard and is a very comfortable passage maker. The pilothouse allows the crew to sail the yacht from a sheltered position, while it is also a place to get together and savour the atmosphere of the surroundings. The yacht’s flexible sail plan is easily managed with the assistance of her hydraulic systems. LAST CHAPTER is fully equipped and with her generous capacity of fuel and water she offers limitless potential. She is eminently seaworthy, outfitted with a hydraulic centerboard for shallow anchorages and her accommodations afford sumptuous protection from the elements. Deep bulwarks and stainless steel rail contribute to the secure feeling you have working on her deck. Her fine clipper-like bow and her cabin top that is so low it doesn’t interfere with her lines, will draw you in instantly so that you will notice her immediately among the others.
‘Last Chapter’ will have completed her voyage around the world by the time she arrives back in the UK in the Summer of 2020. She was built in Makkum during the period 1998-2001 for an American client. In later years, after family sailing holidays in the US, she crossed the Pacific, in the hands of a commercial delivery crew, to Sydney Australia, arriving in Sydney just after the disastrous Sydney Hobart race which cost so many lives and losses. Last Chapter was by then registered in the BVIs as ‘Guadelupe’ and was said to have had no problems in dealing with the sea conditions. We acquired our interest in the yacht when she was put on the market in 2007 in Thailand (Phuket) by a British businessman based in Thailand. We had her brought back into Europe (Turkey) in 2008, in the hands of a commercial crew and later, in 2011, my sons and I delivered her into her now existing berth in Pula, Croatia, from which our current plan is to return her to the UK as soon as events allow.
