Broker’s Comments

The Contest 48CS is an enduring bluewater classic, a robust and capable cruising yacht and built by Holland’s finest. At 48ft they are an immensely capable bit of kit that remains easily managed by a couple. The current owner purchased ZAURAK with a single purpose in mind, which was an Atlantic circuit – taking in the Caribbean en-route. With a pre-trip pit stop in Berthon’s Big Blue Sheds, which saw the addition of heating, electronics and servicing of all the existing systems, the owner achieved his mission. She is now ready for her next intrepid owners.

The 48CS is a very well-known yacht on the bluewater circuit and her layout is one which always proves to be very popular and often in demand. Everything has been thought of and she is easily cruised by a couple but has comfortable accommodation for when you have visitors on board.

Recent Upgrades and Improvements:

• Generator (new 2021).
• Water maker (new 2019).
• Heating system (new 2020).
• 3KW charger inverter (2021).
• Full teak deck refurb and re-caulk (Winter 22/23).

Owner’s Comments

We brought ZAURAK in Holland April 2016, as a family boat, with the intention of an Atlantic crossing. We sailed her back to Lymington a few weeks later and she was based at Berthon for 2016 & 17. We sailed her on the south coast, to France and the Channel Islands as well as upgrading her systems with a view to the Atlantic crossing.

In 2018, we sailed the ARC Portugal to Lagos, Portugal and ZAURAK was based in this beautiful marina for just over 1 year. Watermaker and Iridium Go were installed and at the beginning of October 2019, we sailed her down to Las Palmas.

We sailed the 2019 ARC to Rodney Bay St Lucia in 19 days 23 hours and 4 minutes and spent the next 10 days on a family holiday in St Lucia.

Plans to cruise the Caribbean were blocked by the COVID-19 pandemic and ZAURAK came back to Southampton on a boat transporter in July 2020 and then to Berthon.

In view of COVID, not much sailing was undertaken in 2020 and 2021, but further upgrades to ZAURAK were undertaken. In 2022, we sailed ZAURAK to Medemblik Holland to take part in the Contest Cup – going out via the “Mast Up Root” on the inland waterways and back via the North Sea.

The arrival of grandchildren means it is time for us to sell ZAURAK.
