The Discovery 55 is a success story well-conceived and executed. The fact that over 50 now ply the world’s oceans is a testimony to the success and popularity of the Ron Holland design. Among their stand out features are the sail handling (the sail plan can be handled by one person entirely from the cockpit), plus the raised saloon and navigator’s seat are particularly popular features with owners. SEADUCED is a two owner and recent example. Both owners were experienced sailors – she having completed a circumnavigation with her first owner and a few seasons cruising the Canaries with the second. SEADUCED has been consistently maintained through her life. The yacht enjoyed a comprehensive pit stop in spring/summer of 2016/17 where all the main systems were overhauled. Engine, drive train, rudder bearings and many items updated, new standing rigging and sails – before heading off to the Canaries. Below decks, she boasts a palatial owner’s cabin aft with a large ensuite and full height access to the engine room. A long linear galley heads forward on port, housing some of the best refrigeration for a yacht in this class. Forward of the saloon the yacht has a further twin pullman cabin to port. To starboard an ample WC. with separate enclosed shower, with a large centre line berth guest cabin in bow. As befits any true bluewater cruising yacht the stowage is vast, with three transom lockers and one full depth bow/sail locker. She is very much a luxury bluewater 4×4.
