ON A WHIM was the first of the Discovery 57s to launch, and was much reviewed and feted as a new yacht, her launch was followed by the build of 6 other sisters all whom has sailed far. ON A WHIM has a great specification with a practical white hull, powered furling by Reckmann for her yankee and genoa with the Discovery signature furling rig and self-tacking jib system. She has a stunning teak interior with wenge detailing and teak amtico flooring. She has been carefully maintained by her current and original owner and has been sparingly used. With her splendid deck saloon, interior watch keeping position and spacious galley she is perfect for blue water. Her owners’ cabin is large with vertical hull windows and she has a great VIP cabin forward and generous upper and lower berth cabin, both of which share a large heads and separated shower. Her machine room provides access to a great engine room with all the main systems.

ON A WHIM now needs a refit to fit her for more sailing adventures. An indication of cost and survey relating to these issues is available for those interested in becoming her new owner. Her asking price reflects the need for this investment.

When it comes to short-handed sailing in comfort, ON A WHIM is second to none. For a large yacht she is very easy to handle and when sailing to windward she points high and maintains power and speed when other cruising yachts of her size have stalled. She’s also easy to manoeuvre in tight places. I have loved owning ON A WHIM, and the only reason to sell is to buy another new yacht!
