The Botin & Carkeek Grand Soleil 43 has over the past 10 years become an iconic dual-purpose yacht for cruising and racing both inshore and offshore.
Although now discontinued, the model still has pleasing lines, an open cockpit and very easy to sail deck layout to be cruised by a couple or raced with a full team.
The model originally came with an Open Transom option, which this yacht has reducing weight aft for racing and also allowing easy access for cruising. Two interior options were available, the linear galley and the more traditional L shaped galley. JUA KALI has the linear galley, giving more seating around the saloon table and a full size chart table on the Starboard side. She has teak in the cockpit with a modern light caulking, but side decks and coach roof are in the original gelcoat finish. Less to maintain and cost effective to replace over time while still offering comfort and grip in the high traffic areas.
She has a very full spec, for extended sailing, with full communications and navigation systems. Her sail wardrobe, although not new, is very complete and offers a good set for cruising and a second set for racing.
A fin keel and carbon rig gives plenty of righting moment, fast on the racecourse, and stable while cruising, with added benefits of less pitch and roll at anchor and reefing at higher windspeeds as benefits.
JUA KALI has been well loved and enjoyed a life racing in many of the major regattas all over the world, and brought fun to many crew who have been on board. She has been used as a charter yacht in the past few years, and had a full time captain on board.
She now is need of an internal refit and is offered at a very low price against her peers to account for this. When done she is likely to increase in value and offer a strong and reliable cruising yacht, and still be very competitive on the racetrack.
