Broker’s Comments

Maxi 1300 KIRIMA is now offered for sale. Carefully maintained since new, she is UK VAT paid. The yacht was originally constructed in Sweden in 2006 but was launched in the UK in 2007.

The Maxi 1300 is a spacious and exhilarating yacht to own and sail. Her current owner has spared no expense keeping her well maintained and regularly upgraded. The Maxi 1300 was the legendary Swedish yacht designer Pelle Peterson’s penultimate project before retirement. Designing a boat that he could enjoy sailing single handed he also wished her to have a turn of speed, which would see her passing other boats while cruising. A performance sailor to his core the Maxi 1300 he created fulfilled that brief perfectly.

Summary:
Launched new for the 2007 season, Maxi 1300 KIRIMA was built with a focus on easy single or short-handed performance sailing. During the current ownership, she has proven to be very well set up for two-handed cruising.

Below decks she offers 3 double cabins with a large bright saloon and two heads. Her inventory includes highlights such as:

  • Blue topsides.
  • Teak laid decks and cockpit.
  • Volvo Penta D2-40 40hp engine, comfortable cruising at 6.5kts.
  • Volvo Penta 3 blade bronze folding prop and rope cutter.
  • MAX Power bow thruster.
  • Lewmar Cobra rack and pinion steering system with dual helm stations.
  • Raymarine instrumentation.
  • Furuno Navtex.
  • Mastervolt charger/invertor.
  • Stainless steel fuel and water tanks.
  • Twin stainless steel holding tanks.
  • Electric halyard winch.
  • Comprehensive sail wardrobe.

Owner’s Comments

We bought the yacht as the third owner in June 2014. We wanted a yacht that has excellent sailing performance, is safe in rough seas, had good Scandinavian boatbuilding quality and is not a mass product and has a certain exclusivity.

We have further equipped the yacht according to our specifications for worldwide sailing. We have sailed the yacht mainly as a couple but sometimes singlehanded. She had been down to the Balearics with the previous owner for a season and returned to the UK where she was hauled out and put up for sale. In 2014, we took her to Ireland and have since sailed her on the Southwest coast of Britain, Normandy, and Brittany. We prepared her to go on the 2020 ARC + but due to COVID-19 we did not go.

All equipment has always regularly been maintained. The engine and the generator have been professionally serviced every year. The newly awlgripped hull polished and waxed every year. She has been out of the water for at least five months each winter and dehumidified during that time.

Fresh water supply is from two tanks and by means of a watermaker, which was pickled at the end of the season.

A new Fischer Panda generator was installed in 2020.

Gas alarm and smoke alarm.

The complete documentation of all the yacht equipment is available by request.

There are several spares for the engine, generator and watermaker included in the sale.

Manufacturer’s History:

The Maxi Yachts brand was owned by Nimbus Yachts/Sweden for more than a decade. The Maxi 1300 was designed by the famous Swedish designer Pelle Petterson; his final design for the brand under the Nimbus Yachts ownership. Approximately 50 of the Maxi 1300 boats were built by Nimbus Yachts. This yacht is hull number 17, built in Sweden in 2006 – she was launched in 2007.

The Maxi Yachts brand was then sold to Najad and after Najad became insolvent, the brand was then sold to new Polish owners. In the polish ownership, Pelle Peterson completed one further design, the Maxi 1200 before retiring, after a lifetime association with the Maxi Yachts brand.
