The Najad 380 Aphrodite is a very special boat; with only a handful built, they rarely come onto the market. The Aphrodite offers a classic look with mahogany veneered superstructure and extensive use of high-quality stainless steel fittings but built to modern construction methods. These yachts have established themselves over the years with offshore credentials, capable of sailing anywhere in the world in comfort and safety.

She can easily be sailed single-handed if required with all controls led back to the cockpit and within reach of the helm, but will also satisfy a full crew. The classic design continues below decks, with quality fittings throughout. The layout offers a spacious saloon with two sofas, navigation space and toilet. She has a longitudinal galley, with plenty of storage and large fridge. Aft of the galley is a comfortable owner’s cabin with an offset double and single berth, in the bow you will find a V-berth for two guests. Out at sea, you are protected in the comfortable centre cockpit where a fixed windscreen with sprayhood will be appreciated when the weather is at its worst.

CABLE CALL has had one owner since new and has been well looked after over the years. She had new standing rigging done in 2018 and the boat comes with a good specification. This is a chance to own a classic Najad 380 and is ready to hit the high seas today!

Owner’s Comments

The Aphrodite is a tried and tested Najad 380, but has various cosmetic refinements such as stainless rather than aluminium windscreen and windows and wooden coachroof. Even though I did not use the boat to its full ocean-going capabilities, its looks and quality gave me pleasure! Down below, the saloon is light and airy, and the woodwork has to be felt to appreciate how much care went into it; I visited the boat twice in Gothenburg/Orust while she was being built and each time I left feeling how committed the craftsmen were. Engineers tell me how easy it is for them to work in the spacious well laid out engine room; CABLE CALL has a shaft, not a sail drive. She is all old-school standards in a modern form.

We have not used the boat as much as hoped, despite each year saying, “This is the year”. However, she has given a great deal of pleasure sailing the English Channel, the Channel Islands, and the French coast, often single-handed. For two people with occasional guests, the boat is very comfortable both on passage and in port; living space has been maximised for two owners rather than charters; a centre cockpit is comforting in rough weather and following seas; its weight reduces fatigue on longer passages; righting moment reassures. A furling main facilitates single-handed sailing and allows you to remain in the protection of the centre cockpit while shortening sail.

If you use the boat as a serious passage maker, you will not be disappointed; but if, like me, you don’t quite live up to your dreams, you will still be able to take pleasure in having something rather special.
