Broker’s Comments

A very special yacht, and one which brings a smile to your face the minute you step on board. The Swan 38 was one of the most popular of all the Nautor models. There were 116 of them built between the short period of 1974 and 1979. TOMAHAWK happens to be hull number 116 and therefore the very last of her type to sail out of the factory.

Sold by us to her current custodian, she has been lovingly maintained and restored and is presented in beautiful condition. She has had a selection of owners over the years and she has chosen these owners well but the time has come for her to once again move on. In this ownership, she has had recent sails, navigation gear and a smartening up of her cosmetics. Her decks have been well maintained and cared for but it is something that a future key holder may have to address.

Her sailing capabilities speak for themselves in true Swan style and she will be a joy to sail whether cruising far and wide or on the race course.

Owner’s Comments

TOMAHAWK is a yacht that you fall in love with at first sight. I found the lines of this S & S classic entrancing and on deeper acquaintance, it was her outstanding sea-keeping qualities that cemented the relationship, particularly during a difficult passage through the Alderney Race. TOMAHAWK’s pedigree gives her an entry to most of the classic yacht regattas and in many events she can compete against similar Swans, allowing you to enjoy her ageless racing performance and afterwards, meet up with like-minded crews.

The original IOR features have been modified to make her more suitable for short-handed cruising, including clutches for halyards and self-tailing winches at the mast and cockpit. Down below, the forepeak has been converted to a comfortable twin bunk layout but the original pipe cots are in place and could be restored to the original condition. The upholstery has been renewed, the galley stove replaced by a modern design with grill and in the last 3 years she has had three new sails. In this format, she has been a very comfortable cruising boat and I have enjoyed cruises throughout the Channel and South Brittany and would have been very happy to have gone further afield. Wherever you go, TOMAHAWK is recognized as a thoroughbred and always attracts admiration and praise.
