Broker’s Comments

The very best deal for a 70-foot yacht. A beautiful four cabin global cruiser. She had an extensive refit in 2017/2018, and was updated again in 2019.

Rebuilt engine 2018, new electronics, new cushions below deck and cockpit. Teak interior (varnished in 2019).

Very large cockpit, easily seats 10 or more under new Bimini.

Owner’s Comments

We have a new 70’ yacht nearing completion. We purchased BLUE TARA to be able to cruise the Caribbean and beyond during the winter months in January, February and March when the weather is terrible in Canada. Last winter we cruised on her in the San Blas Islands, but this winter we are unfortunately stuck in Canada.

The yacht is extremely comfortable. Easy to handle because of the split rig, she is a very solid yacht, stiff and sea kindly. The split rig allows my wife and me at our advance age to cruise her without any additional crew. We could not do that on a sloop-rigged yacht of this size. At 70 feet, with a very long waterline and wide beam, she is a big solid yacht at sea but due to her 5 feet draft (board up), we were able to tuck in great anchorages next to much smaller yachts and quite close to the shore. This is a great advantage for safe, comfortable and remote cruising. The interior of the yacht is very classical with a very spacious layout with a convenient, separate aft entrance for the master and three staterooms forward, with two en-suite.

We are professional yacht builders with 30 years of extensive world cruising. When we bought BLUE TARA, she had just completed a two-year cruise of the Caribbean and like any yacht of her age, required some improvements. Fortunately, prior to this cruise, she has undergone a major refit, with all new electronics, engine rebuild and a major re-wiring of the complete original electrical system. One year ago, we replaced five of the seven deck hatches, re-enforced the davit system, installed a dual solar system with dual charge controllers and 4000-watt inverter, installed a new sail track on the mizzenmast, improved the cockpit engine controls, and installed a new 130# stainless anchor and 300’ of new G4 7/16” chain, and probably more.

We doubt that there is another yacht of this size for sale anywhere as capable and under $200K.
