The Royal Van Dam Nordia Shipyard was responsible for a series of exceptional aluminium bluewater cruising yachts which are of the first quality. The Nordia 55 was one of the most successful classes that they built, offering robust construction suitable for serious cruising in high or low latitude. Aboard a Nordia everything is of the first quality from the Reckmann furling, to Hall Spars and to Onan generator. Many of the fittings are custom built like the slatted forward lazarette, which is non-slip when you are working forward. Nordia were also famous for their exceptional joinery, and aboard CHARISMA the cherry interior is beautifully crafted with marquetry on the main saloon table and on the chart table. The doors leading to the 2 forward cabins are shaped in an arc which is a lovely feature and steals more volume for the main saloon.
Another Nordia point of difference is the engine room. It is a walk in affair with great access to all the systems aboard and all these systems are robust and of the best. This means that when sailing remotely it is easy to service all the key systems.
CHARISMA is still with her original owners. She was initially kept in the Caribbean, delivering comfortable and easy sailing for her family in its waters. She is fully air conditioned and her ample deck space, large protected cockpit and airy interior made her very suitable for this role. After a few seasons there, it was decided that she should return to Europe, which she did on the deck of a freighter. She has since been positioned on the Solent and she has been used for local sailing.
Her owners have found her to be easy to handle shorthanded and nimble for cruising in restricted south coast waters. She is professional maintained and is being offered for sale as her owners now lack the time to use her to her potential.
