Broker’s Comments

The 37 Grand Mistral is a sublime piece of design and craftsmanship from Windy Boats AS. The Hans J. Johnsen hull is forgiving in a seaway, yet precise, easily driven and immensely strong – giving the driver great control and confidence in the ability of this beautiful sports-cruiser.

This is an early example of the 37 Grand Mistral Hardtop, with Volvo Penta’s smooth 6 cylinder KAD-44 blocks, developing 260 horsepower on each side for performance into the mid/high thirties. She has bowthruster, updated Raymarine navigational kit on board, and her design is timeless. Her cockpit is simple – with a large folding table to seat 6 with ease (and the table can drop to form a sunpad or occasional cockpit berth) – and three forward-facing seats at the console for helm and crew. Engine access is easy – with a large hatch set under the cockpit table and a back-saving electric lifting ram, and there is a good-sized lazarette locker underneath the forward cockpit sole. In terms of accommodation, the 37 is the smallest boat in the Windy range to afford two separate cabins off the saloon, with a shared heads/shower compartment sited ensuite to the aft cabin. She has an effective galley on the starboard side of the saloon, and WHISTLEDOWN has a gas hob and oven, as well as the normal sink and fridge. The timber is a selected cherry with a satin varnish, and the interior is fully-lined, to promote best heat retention during the colder season, and remain cooler in hotter climes. 2019 saw a new turbo, new super charger and new console dash. She has been well loved by the current owner and is not to be missed by anyone who is interested.

With press plaudits such as “Britain’s Best Drivers Boat”, and a thoroughly deserved reputation as one of the finest synergies of style, accommodation, finish and sea-keeping, the 37 excels in her role.
