BABY X is a lightly used X43 (X4.3) yacht. She has low hours on the engine and is a very good opportunity to jump straight into a fresh yacht, which does both racing and cruising equally well. She is for sale and ready for the new owner to sail in 2023, after Cowes Week.
Her specification, from the base spec, is a striking grey hull with white waterlines with the optional teak decks that have very little wear. The upgraded carbon mast and boom give much better racing performance and increases righting moment, which also has many cruising benefits such as less pitch and roll at anchor, and reefing later and much stiffer in section.
Her suit of North 3Di sails give plenty of horsepower and the selection of spinnakers give plenty of options downwind- with a handy Code 0 for reaching.
BABY X has an anchor roller forward of the bow for easy anchoring, a push button anchor windlass and plenty of anchor chain. This is all mounted on the carbon bowsprit that incorporates the anchor roller.
Further aft, the large sail locker is big enough for the Code 0 and a deflated dinghy.
The uncluttered decks give plenty of space, without any trip hazards and sail controls cleverly lead under deck where it is sensible.
Powered winches for the halyards on the port side and the upgraded primary winches, make sail handling really easy. A large and spacious cockpit gives room for the whole family, with twin wheels opening up the cockpit to the open transom with incorporated bathing ladder for easy access.
BABY X has a 3-cabin layout, with the bow cabin including a heads unit, and the aft cabins with the larger heads on the starboard side with shower. The chart table is aft facing on the end of the starboard settee.
Upgrades to the systems include heating to all cabins, hull windows in all cabins, holding tank, B&G electronic package including tow chartplotters at the helms, built in Nespresso machine and retractable bowthruster.
The X43 (X4.3) is the second model in a new range, aimed at the discerning sailor and his crew. It utilises advanced, proven technology and build techniques, which only incorporate first class components, enabling the exploration of new uncharted horizons in comfort.
X-Yachts´ background being the builder of the most winning production yachts for more than three decades is mirrored in the X43 ´s technical specification…
The X43 offers an easily handled package, ideal for double-handed sailing.
The X43 ’s hull is designed to meet the demands from sailors who want to enjoy sailing in a wide range of conditions. Achieving comfort when sailing to windward in a rough sea was an essential prerequisite in the X43 hull design. Generous stability, modern displacement and a powerful yet easy to control sail plan offers smooth sailing through the waves.
Unlike mainstream modern yacht designs, the X43 is meant to be enjoyable and easy to handle in more than just ‘reaching’ conditions. A lot of focus was put on the upwind performance and sea keeping when choosing design parameters and various aspect ratios. This combined with the thoroughbred X-Yachts racing heritage delivers a new generation of world class cruising.
The X43 hull construction incorporates leading edge technology such as vacuum epoxy infused E-glass fibres in a sandwich M-foam construction, giving the hull the rigidity required to put the mast and rig in tension with very little deformation, avoiding “pumping”.
A high ballast ratio instead of an extremely beamy hull shape gives a comfortable stability. Wetted surface area and friction drag is minimised, essential for light wind performance.
The X43 combines many of the qualities found in both the Xc and Xp range into one perfectly formed yacht.
As with all X-Yachts weight distribution is key to performance and comfort at sea.
