Designed by Nigel Irens and Benoit Cabaret, PARADOX³ was built by Marsaudon Composites in Lorient, France, from resin-infused carbon and foam laid up in female moulds that were also used for the Grand Prix racing ORMA 60s FUJIFILM and BANQUE POPULAIRE.
Although built in these moulds, she is a custom designed yacht from the start, with extra structure in the hulls and beams to take the extra loads of additional equipment and systems.
She is an incredibly fast boat that can cruise comfortably at sustained speeds of over 20 knots, touching 30 knots when sailing flat-out when the pedal is pressed hard and capable of 600 miles per day.
Her C foils have added more performance and VMG gains and stability at higher speeds. She has won her class in multiple international ocean races.
Although there is a race yacht in her DNA, she offers a detuned, safer, and more comfortable platform for sailors to fully enjoy the performance of offshore trimaran sailing, incredibly fast in a very safe environment.
She has an all up weight of around 8,500kg with more volume in the main hull for accommodation; to house her cruising gear, such as a much bigger engine, dual battery banks, electric winches and a hydraulic mainsheet, a very clever anchoring system with auto-deploying anchor with 120 feet of chain on an electric windlass, hot water heater, shower, refrigerator, a proper stove, and an electric head and holding tank.
In her current ownership, she was given a large makeover, and thorough refit. She has new sails and engine for the 2025 season, standing rigging was replaced in 2024 and has new livery in the form of a grey wrap, the bottom of the yacht has been coppercoated, and touched up very recently for the start of the 2025 season.
New electrics, batteries, watermaker, she really has had a superb makeover and is an excellent proposition for the next owner to take over an iconic yacht without the worry of a looming refit for the near future.
She is 100% ready to go and in exceptional turnkey condition for thousands of trouble-free miles.
I bought this yacht for fast offshore racing and cruising. The name Paradox encapsulates Nigel Irens’ design: the grace and speed of an ORMA 60, combined with a storm-proofed structure and liveaboard comforts. After thousands of miles and some spectacular race wins, I am grateful to have owned her.
