Discovery 55 Hull #30, SAXON BLUE was built for her current owner and delivered in 2009. The brief was to deliver a yacht that was suitable for high latitude sailing – and Discovery delivered!
She has a stainless steel bow plate to deal with ice, uprated electrical system including an 11kw generator and larger battery capacity and electric cooking. She is also warmed by engine heat as well as an Eberspacher heating system so the only fuel she needs is diesel. Importantly, her rig is fully automated with Reckmann furling on the twin sails forward and electric in-mast furling – all of the controls are brought back to the helm for easy, short-handed sailing in challenging conditions as needed.
Her owner wanted an open saloon, so she features the Mark II saloon layout and to starboard she has two wonderful stress less chairs, which are just the job for when you are off watch or simply enjoying a wonderful anchorage.
SAXON BLUE has cruised in Iceland, Greenland and Canada and has proved her worth as a cold-water yacht. She has also spent time in the Caribbean where her tropical air conditioning, open and airy interior in cherry and great outside spaces made her the perfect platform.
Since 2011 she has been positioned in Scotland and has cruised extensively in these wonderful waters and she has been professionally maintained from launch. Her owner’s plans have changed so she is now being offered for sale in full cruising trim and ready for cold and warm water. The retrofit of the specification that she has to make her comfortable and suitable for the cold places is not an easy task which is why her owner elected to build a new yacht.
He has been delighted with her performance and the ease with which two people can sail her far and in safety.
SAXON BLUE can be viewed easily with a little notice. You can have a look at her specification here – [OFF MARKET]
