Broker’s Comments

As only Cockwells can, and lovingly hand-built at Mylor Bridge in Cornwall. OCEAN FAUNA is a one-off Cockwells Custom 32 footer – equally stunning, and very useable as a day cruiser/weekender. Exuding quality and with her handsome lines, she really turns heads wherever she goes.

When launched in 2005, she was voted as one of the best retro launches in the world by Boat International magazine, and described by Motorboat & Yachting as “32 foot of stunning elegance, quite a unique mix of old and new”.

Her solid hull, upright bow and sharp stem glide smoothly into a head sea. Her wheelhouse is built in solid teak, with gleaming brightwork under a rich varnish. Her deckhouse affords comfortable seating for six, plus forward Helm and Navigator seats; so that everyone stays dry when the British summer showers arrive. Her interior joinery is hand-crafted using Cornish Chestnut and Black Walnut. Below decks she has a forward heads, stowage lockers and a full-beam galley. In fact, all you need for a day afloat!

Twin 125HP Yanmar diesel engines lie under the cabin sole, allowing her 5 tonnes to power along at a comfortable 14 knots cruising speed. She is a straightforward shaft-drive set-up, with everything readily accessible, and a very good amount of useful stowage volume around her cockpit, and is simply a delight to be on board. Her sea-keeping qualities were designed off a rugged pilot cutter, but with the grace and bearing of a gentleman’s launch.

Having spent a very enjoyable day on board her, winding down through the Twynham channel and crossing Christchurch Bay en route to Berthon, we can vouch for her smooth handling, unflustered manner and unique blend of tradition, function and oh-so-pretty lines. She is truly a very special motor-yacht and her beautiful condition has been easily maintained by a yachting family who have thoroughly enjoyed their time with her.
