The Reichel/Pugh 45 boasts a timeless design, avoiding an excessive lean in any particular direction, yet consistently securing top positions on result sheets in both inshore and offshore races.

Sometimes, a design just hits the sweet spot, and this one certainly has. Of course, there’s always room for optimization and performance tweaks, and PTERODACTYL has undergone her fair share in recent years. She keeps up with trends and developments to remain as competitive as possible.

Equipped with a new bow, extended bowsprit, updated keel, and rudder (among other modifications), she has become one of the boats to beat in the Newport, RI – USA area.

Now, in sparkling condition and fully prepared for racing, she awaits her new owner.

Owner’s Comments

A well-sorted, upgraded, and maintained Reichel/Pugh 45—a powerful weapon with the ability to slay giants (as evidenced by the Vineyard results from 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023). Technically challenging and rewarding, she begins surfing in 14 knots true wind speed (TWS) and remains controllable in heavy air while sparkling in light air.
