This late model Moody DS45, STELLAR J, was delivered by ship to the Caribbean in the spring of 2021 when new, and has been based there since. She has a very comprehensive specification.
She is very easy to sail with powered in-mast furling, furling genoa and self-tacking jib, bow and stern thrusters, and electric winches. She has a striking hull livery with a striking mid-blue painted blue hull with accent graphics. Her interior is executed in beautiful cherry wood, and she is fully air-conditioned. In the forward part of the yacht, you will find the owner’s cabin with a centreline double berth, vanity desk, and en-suite head with stall shower.
There are two guest cabins. The starboard cabin has the optional athwartship double bed, vanity desk, and storage. Both guest cabins share the second head compartment which has a shower.
The deck saloon has an L-shaped sofa to starboard, which wraps around an extendable table, and on the port side is the forward-facing chart table, which has her engine and autopilot controls. Aft of this is the galley, with a stove, microwave, and dishwasher. There are two fridges inside the yacht, and another fitted in the cockpit table.
Glass sliding doors open on the same level to the cockpit—a signature and unique feature of the Moody deck saloon range—which is shaded by an electric retractable bimini. Aft of this, on the helm deck, is a fixed arch with extra solar panels and a second bimini over the helm.
STELLAR J has a very comprehensive inventory of cruising gear, including lithium batteries, solar panels, davits, and the rare shallow keel option with a 5’3″ draft that delivers huge flexibility with access to wonderful anchorages not accessible to deeper drafted yachts of her size. Her sails are by Elvstrom and North, with several headsails and a code zero.
STELLAR J has European wiring and is offered ex-VAT having just shipped from the Caribs. She is a well prepared and sorted cruising yacht that is full of innovative ideas, and which is perfect for living well.
We have enjoyed the build process, albeit it was during COVID times, and then, after delivery, cruising the Eastern Caribbean during the winter months on STELLAR J. In the summer, we’d go back to Canada, so the yacht was stored during the summer season. She is easy to sail, fast, and a lovely yacht to spend time on, both inside and outside. Since owning STELLAR J, we have upgraded the solar capacity by adding a fixed arch and have integrated dinghy davits. She is now for sale, as we are building a new, bigger yacht.
