From 2013, SAVING GRACE II is one of the last of the incredibly popular Southerly 42RST series. With only one meticulous owner since new, she remains in immaculate condition and has been thoughtfully maintained and specified for bluewater cruising. Featuring the renowned Southerly swing keel, SAVING GRACE II is one of just two 42RST models sporting tri-windows in the aft cabin, adding an abundance of natural light to an already beautifully designed interior.
SAVING GRACE II comes with an impressive suite of equipment to ensure comfort, convenience, and self-sufficiency at sea. A genset, watermaker, washing machine, solar array, and davits all contribute to her capability for extended voyages and living aboard well. And with both bow and stern thrusters, she manoeuvres with ease, making docking in tight spaces a breeze.
From her home waters in the UK and the Solent, SAVING GRACE II has ventured across the English Channel to France, sailed onwards to Portugal, and spent three years cruising the stunning Mediterranean, exploring the Spanish coastline and the Balearic Islands. She proved perfect for exploring hidden ‘calas’ and remote shorelines, with her variable-draft swing keel providing access to secluded, shallow anchorages.
SAVING GRACE II made her way back to the Solent in 2021, where she has since been enjoying local waters and the West Country.
Below deck, SAVING GRACE II offers a well-appointed and inviting space, featuring the sought-after two-cabin, two-head layout.
The raised saloon and chart table provide excellent all-around visibility, while the spacious linear galley is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences you need.
The spacious full-beam aft owner’s cabin benefits from those unique triple vertical portlights, which flood the space with light and create a bright, airy retreat. The saloon’s folding leaf table also converts into an additional double berth, allowing for comfortable accommodation for up to six guests with minimal fuss.
SAVING GRACE II boasts a powerful yet manageable sail plan, designed to deliver strong upwind performance with ease of handling. Her Selden tall fractional rig, complemented by swept-back double spreaders, provides both stability and efficiency. The self-tacking furling jib makes handling effortless, while the large, fully battened mainsail delivers excellent power and control.
Sail handling is simplified with the Stac Pac system, Selden MDS cars, and lazy jacks, making hoisting and reefing straightforward. Her single-line reefing system, with three reef points, allows for quick adjustments, with all control lines leading back to the cockpit for seamless operation. For downwind sailing, she comes equipped with a furling asymmetric spinnaker, ensuring versatility in all conditions.
The cockpit is designed for both function and comfort, with a sprayhood and full cockpit enclosure that protect the crew from the elements, making long passages more enjoyable and maintaining SAVING GRACE II as a comfortable home, no matter the weather.
Her owners now full-time residents of Spain, this highly specified cruiser is offered for sale on the UK’s south coast. With her superb build quality, top-tier equipment, and exceptional sailing characteristics, SAVING GRACE II is ready for more sailing adventures, whether for coastal explorations or more ocean-crossings.
