Southerly Yachts are the undisputed masters of variable-draft sailing yachts. While other manufacturers have occasionally offered this feature, it has always been Southerly’s unique selling point. Their swing keel is a well-proven design, first introduced when the Southerly 28 hit the water in 1975.

The Southerly 49 represents a slightly more sportif offering from the yard. With sleek lines, a dark blue hull, and teak decks, she is a very handsome yacht. Twin wheels, all lines leading aft, and a twin headsail setup make managing her powerful sail plan straightforward for a small crew. Below decks, she offers three spacious, well-appointed cabins, along with a raised navigation area and saloon seating.

DAYDREAM BELIEVER is a yacht we know well, having been purchased via Berthon International in 2015. She has been berthed in our Lymington Marina ever since, apart from a brief absence to complete a round-Britain trip. The current owner has continually maintained, updated, and in many cases improved DAYDREAM BELIEVER during his ownership, as the detailed specification below attests.

Owner’s Comments

We have enjoyed fair-weather sailing to the Channel Islands and Cherbourg, many trips exploring the west country and Jurassic coastline with plenty of Solent weekend sailing. Our most recent bucket list adventure, an anticlockwise journey around the UK with a season cruising the western Isles returning via Belfast, Dublin and again the Cornish/Devonshire coast line.

DDB is a fast sleek modern looking yacht that attracts generous comments from sailors and bystanders wherever she goes, her lifting keel read(get out of jail free card) is the jewel in her crown allowing shallow moorings and marina berths whilst cruising away from home port.

She has been declared a mini superyacht by experienced and well-travelled yachties who marvel at her safe close hauling ability and down wind speed gained by an adjustable swing keel.

Daydream Believer is ready to go with all that’s needed for luxury sailing single handed or minimal crew, coastal or ocean Southerly style.
