YYachts was born from one man’s passion for sailing and 50 years experience in yacht building. Since the early 1980s, Michael Schmidt was building successful racing yachts, and was we believe the first to construct in carbon fibre. After a period owning a string of yacht sales offices, he started Hanse Yachts. In 2015, he built his own one-off Brenta 80 but then decided he wished to share his passion with like-minded sailors. He started YYachts and his first yacht COOL BREEZE (now PEREGRIN) was the first of 3 sisters. Thereafter came the Y7, Y9, several custom builds, and an updated Mk II Y8. Now also a Y6.

CALABASH was the first of the Mk III Y8s and is hull number: Y8-028 (the 28th yacht from the yard at her time of build). She is a natural evolution from earlier builds, minimalist – yet luxurious; built in carbon to be light and fast – yet a stable family cruising yacht.

CALABASH is maintained in top order and ready for sailing. Her owner is now ready for his next new project, and the yacht is attractively priced to sell. As they wish to sell before summer, they would also consider accepting a smaller yacht as trade in. If desired, the interior may be easily adapted for a new owner – the yard can change the seating in the saloon or even add one cabin.

CALABASH sails under German flag. She is company owned and hence may be sold to a non-EU (or corporate) buyer free of EU VAT.
