Broker’s Comments

SAVING GRACE II is the sort of yacht that quietly inspires confidence. Built with purpose and owned with care since new, she presents today as a composed, capable cruising companion well-travelled, yet far from finished with her story.

She carries all the hallmarks of the Southerly 42RST a yacht which offers plenty at under 45ft. Her lifting keel gives her a rare adaptability, allowing her to slip into shallow anchorages where others hesitate, yet she remains entirely self-assured offshore. It is a duality she handles with ease, equally content exploring intricate coastlines or settling into the rhythm of a longer passage.

Her raised saloon offers a natural vantage point on the world outside, light-filled, open, and always connected to the sea. The interior arrangement is both practical and welcoming, with her spacious aft cabin.

Under sail, she is cooperative and forgiving, set up to be handled without drama. Her self-tacking jib, electric winches, and thrusters speak to a yacht that has been designed to work with her crew rather than demand from them. At the same time, her sail wardrobe ensures she remains engaging, capable of covering ground with efficiency.

Perhaps most telling is the way she has been specified and kept. Generator, watermaker, robust electrical systems, and long-range communication and she has been kept so she is ready to sail.
SAVING GRACE II is, ultimately, a yacht with an easy manner and serious capability. She is ready to take her next owners wherever their ambitions may lead.

Owner’s Comments

Launched in December 2013, SAVING GRACE II was our second Southerly, both bought from new. For our 42RST, this allowed us the opportunity to specify and build a yacht based upon what we had learned from our 38, and our ambitions from a sailing point of view. The results were delightful, offering a rig that is easily manageable for two people on long or short passages, together with systems that allow ease of sailing and mooring. Whether it is the self-tacking jib, multiple power winches, or the bow and stern thrusters, SAVING GRACE II was designed to be as stress-free as possible.

The sail plan offers flexibility too, depending upon both the wind conditions and the crew. Twin headsails include the jib and full genoa, a furling asymmetric for light-air reaching, and a full spinnaker for downwind performance. The fully battened main features MDS cars along with three reefing points, all discreetly led back to the cockpit. All are in excellent condition, benefiting from regular valeting and careful storage over the winters.

She was also built for long-term cruising and ARC compatibility, with a generator, watermaker, Mastervolt AGM batteries, an additional freshwater tank, SSB radio, Pactor modem, large fridge/freezer capacity, and even a washing machine! SAVING GRACE II is bluewater-ready in every respect.

Over eleven years, SAVING GRACE II has taken us to a variety of destinations in the UK and Europe. From France and Portugal to three years spent in Spain and the Balearics, all of which are recorded on SAVING GRACE II’s own website. Here you will find a log of the many adventures we have enjoyed.

Now residents in Spain, our sailing plans need to adapt to spending less time in the UK. SAVING GRACE II has been a privilege to enjoy, something which we are sure will benefit a future owner. Apart from complete provenance and copious records, she comes with the assurance that only a solid, well-built, and well-maintained yacht provides.
