The Farr 65 TULIPANO is the result of building a dream for an experienced Dutch Sailor. Together with Farr Yacht design and the Italian Yard Comar, they build a no-nonsense, go-anywhere blue water cruiser.
Her layout and deck plan are well thought about. She is easy to sail shorthanded and has all the essential navigation equipment, winches, and gear within reach for the helmsman. The other more central cockpit gives good shelter, thanks to the raised superstructure and semi-deck saloon. It is a great place to chill and wine and dine. Inside, she offers 3 comfortable cabins and a spacious saloon with a good galley.
The current and only owner has made many miles with her, but due to advanced age it is now time for him to hand her over to a new owner.
During his ownership, TULIPANO has always well looked after, and had many upgrades and renewals during the years, including in the last decade:
She is located near Barcelona, where she just got a fresh coat of anti-fouling and general maintenance.
Please contact us to arrange your visit to her or to ask us for further information about this unique blue water cruiser.
When I turned 55, I decided I had had enough of the rat race. I wanted to circumnavigate and based on my experience with various (smaller) boats it was not difficult to specify my requirements for the next boat. Having sailed from Holland to Norway, the whole western coast of Europe, to the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, I had my list of “must-have” ready.
The new yacht had to offer me a lot of comfort, also when the wind was howling (I am very spoiled), be extremely strong to resist any impact from any debris in the water in isolated parts of the world, easy to sail shorthanded (or even single hand just in case), back-up systems for vital functions, enough fuel capacity to run the generator almost daily for months for producing plenty of fresh water and for all fridges to keep running… and she had to look very stylish, not just another big boat.
I found Comar Yachts in Italy, renowned for their craftsmanship. They had experience building Bruce Farr’s 65… flush deck. I wanted a deck house: comfort, space, protection. The yard had that designed to my very satisfaction and there she was, a Bruce Farr 65 deck house, Kevlar reinforced, built under Lloyds supervision.
I spent eight years sailing around the world, sailed her some 60,000 miles, maintained (deck, rigging), replaced (generator, watermaker, electrical furlers), upgraded (electronics, radar), accepting the costs. She will get a new bow thruster and is ready to go, nearby or far-away. Anything worn-out? Yes, me, the owner and skipper, cook, navigator, and mechanic. I have turned 80 and, unfortunately, my sailing days are behind me. It is time for TULIPANO to find a new owner.
