FPB 64 #6 JACK is an iconic ‘functional powerboat’ which is now for sale – and which we know very well. Originally called GREY WOLF, she was built for an experienced yachtsman who used her in the Southern Hemisphere. We sold this FPB 64 to her second UK owner when she was in New Zealand. He sailed her from Whangerai in North Island, back to the Channel Islands. A voyage of around 12,000 nautical miles, against prevailing winds and currents. During the voyage, a series of Berthon apprentices sailed aboard her and this yacht now has a very special place in the hearts of everyone at Berthon. GREY WOLF II is an FPB 78 and shows how much this owner loved his FPB 64. She is also RCD compliant and fully set up for both European and world wide cruising. Her third owners purchased her in the UK and called her COOL CHANGE. They cruised with her in the Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic and cruising in the Caribs and then in the lovely waters of the East Coast of the USA.

In this ownership she has had a thorough pitstop with a refresh of her systems and electronics. She is in great operational and cosmetic order and took these owners from North Carolina to La Paz in Mexico via the Panama Canal. She has proved to be a reliable, comfortable cruising platform perfectly set up for living well. She is manageable with a husband and wife crew. JACK provides the opportunity to cruise far and to experience extraordinary things. The refit list can be seen below:

Owner’s Comments

We are familiar with Dashew Offshores’ designs as our previous yacht was a Deerfoot 62, one of the fleet of Dashew bluewater sailing yachts. We sailed her from the East Coast of the USA to Santa Barbara on the West Coast. Because of this we were intimately aware of the Dashew cruising philosophy as well as the thoughtful design of all Dashew vessels. When we decided to move to an explorer, we decided that we wanted an FPB from them and so we found and purchased JACK. Since owning her we have cruised the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, the Bahamas, transited the Panama Canal to the Sea of Cortez and we have also cruised the coast of California.

In our ownership, we have updated JACK’s systems considerably as you will see in this listing information. The list is long but the most significant of the improvements to her have been the battery bank upgrade and the upgrading of her electronics.

We love JACK for her sturdy and robust construction and her sea keeping ability. She provides relaxed, long distance cruising because of her range. We had planned to do more with JACK but unfortunately the Pandemic used up much of our planned calendar for her. We are grateful for the times aboard JACK and for the memories that we have created and look forward to following her further adventures.
