TALULAH RUBY III is a fine example of the Jeanneau 57. Specified by her owner for serious bluewater cruising, she lacks nothing in this department. She boasts all the essential bluewater requirements—from communication systems like satphone and SSB, to creature comforts such as air conditioning, a watermaker, a good-sized generator, and solar power. The list is quite extensive. She is a comfortable home from home, offering a high degree of comfort with accommodation for up to eight berths.

A yacht thoughtfully prepared for extended cruising and maintained by an experienced owner, she is an ideal candidate for anyone considering an event such as the ARC or voyages even further afield.

Owner’s Comments

We looked at various manufacturers and always came back to the Jeanneau for its build quality and design. We considered the 53’ but eventually decided on the 57’ as the best yacht for us.

When the yacht was being built, we specified 4 electric winches, a 9.5 Onan generator, an Aquafresh 90 Litre watermaker, gas cooker and hob, inverter, extra batteries, bow thruster and A.I.S transponder. Jeanneau replaced one water tank with an extra fuel tank and an electric transfer pump.

Before leaving on our circumnavigation, we fitted a carbon spinnaker pole, inner forestry and stay sail, SSB radio, VHF in the cockpit we also fitted an additional autopilot to the quadrant (changed with the flick of a switch in the garage). We fitted a crane for the outboard engine. Pete Sanders made us an asymmetric sail with a sock.

In New Zealand we added the OC hard tender and Tohatsu 9.8hp outboard.

We had a removable Sunbrella enclosure with clear panels on all sides, which kept us sheltered from the elements and greatly improved overnight and bad weather passages.

Unfortunately, our long distant sailing days are over, but TALULAH RUBY III has looked after us so well for the past 10 years. Her ease of handling (my wife can reef the sails on her own), her ability to handle all sea conditions and her excellent boat speed, especially in light airs, has shown us that we definitely made the right choice when choosing the Jeanneau 57. It is with great sadness that we are selling her, but I look forward to handing her over to her new owners and wish them many years of exciting sailing adventures. We will include in the sale all household items and all spares on board.
