The Sweden 45 is an incredibly popular yacht, with good examples being extremely sought after. It is not only a very elegant-looking performance cruising yacht but also benefits from the very best of Swedish yacht building, which is evident throughout. From the hull-deck moulding to the satin-varnished mahogany cabinetry below deck, everything speaks of skilled workmanship.

LUNA OF PLYMOUTH is a well-loved example from 1999. Now in only her second ownership, she boasts a fulsome inventory and has enjoyed both diligent maintenance and thoughtful updates.

Easily and comfortably sailed short-handed, she has a fully-battened mainsail, along with both a self-tacking jib and an overlapping genoa — all controlled by an electric winch. Below decks, she features an L-shaped galley with two fridges, an electric induction hob, and a multi-function oven. Accommodation includes three double cabins, two heads, and a recently re-upholstered leather dinette, along with a forward-facing chart table in a spacious saloon. Both above and below deck, she offers unusually generous stowage space, including three large lazarettes aft and a substantial forward locker.

Owner’s Comments

We bought LUNA OF PLYMOUTH from her original owners in 2020 who had kept her first in Scandinavia and then in Scotland. We were attracted by her good looks, solid build, sailing performance and seaworthiness, and she has never disappointed us. Wherever we have taken her – whether to the wilds of Scotland or the milder climes of France, the Channel Islands and the Isles of Scilly – we have received compliments on her fine lines, and we have always trusted her to sail beautifully and look after us whatever the weather.

Both we and our predecessors have mostly sailed her double-handed – in their case, into their late seventies. During our ownership we have carried out some significant major upgrades including decks, electronics and upholstery

Luna spent most of the first 21 years of her life in Sweden where she was stored inside during the winter, which explains her excellent condition. In recent years she has been kept in Plymouth in the South West of England. In winter she has been heated and dehumidified continuously. She has never been raced.

We love this boat: the solidity and quality of her build is evident everywhere. Having spent five years carefully improving an already fine yacht, we are moving onto something bigger.

LUNA is a Part 1-registered British ship and is UK VAT paid. She is a perfect example of her class, in great condition.

The Sweden Yachts 45 is a quick, seaworthy craft with a sumptuously relaxing interior. The advanced hull design makes her wonderfully easy to sail and manoeuvre. Ample locker space, plenty of hot water, a dream galley, and well-appointed heads make for great onboard living. As well, the cockpit, navigation station, and fittings will delight the most exacting crew. This fast, safe sailing craft originates from the demands made by both the archipelagos with their rapidly changing winds and unpredictable seas, and the heavy weather and imposing waves produced by the mighty North Sea. Responding to the ocean’s demands, the Sweden Yachts 45 provides both safety and sailing performance.
