X-Yachts enjoy an excellent reputation. From their origins as more race-oriented yachts, they have come a long way and now offer a well-drawn, good-looking range, spanning from performance yachts through to performance cruisers. The Xc Range marked a departure toward a more overtly cruising-focused lineup, aimed at sailors who still want a rewarding sail married with a little more cruising comfort.

BLUE JANGA is a very nice example from 2009. With her blue topsides, teak decks, and plumb bow, she is a fine-looking yacht. Fully equipped for extended cruising, she lacks for nothing. Featuring a powerful, easily managed rig with all lines led aft, she is an efficient passage-maker, making her ideal for South Coast adventures or voyaging further afield.

Owner’s Comments

I bought BLUE JANGA as I wanted a good, well-built sailing boat capable of sailing the world, but had to compromise with my wife who wanted comfort. The Xc 45 is the ideal compromise.

The plan was to take her far and wide, but family life and grandchildren have come along meaning that plans have changed for the time being. As a result, she has been lightly used around the south coast UK.

She is an easy boat to sail, with additions to make this even simpler when short, or single-handed, but also fun and competitive in the annual Round the Island race, and she has been the ideal platform for entertaining friends.

I have enjoyed maintaining her, and tinkering, as much as the sailing, and whilst am sorry to have to sell her, hope that she can continue to offer her next owner as much pleasure as she has us.

Designer’s Comments

One of the main differences between the Xperformance and Xcruising ranges is the hull design. The Xc range, with its deeper hull sections, provides a greater interior volume for tanks and other essential cruising equipment. Deeper V-shaped forward hull sections ensure a smooth and comfortable motion when the yacht is sailed into waves (either under sail or engine).

The greater displacement allows for a heavier keel to be fitted. The large fuel and freshwater tanks and the heavy battery bank are all strategically located low and central in the yacht for excellent weight distribution. It also enables the Xc 45 to carry the perhaps most important and remarkable X-Yachts quality feature, the galvanized steel hull-keel girder frame. X-Yachts introduced this design feature back in 1981 and is your guarantee that the keel attachment is done in the safest way possible. Lowering the centre of gravity optimises the stability and allows for a well-proportioned sail plan. The Xc 45 can make short work of any long passage.
