Broker’s Comments

SOTTO VOCE was conceived by and built for an experienced sailing owner. The gentleman had bought a new Swan 55cc (55-116 also named SOTTO VOCE) as his first entry to Swan ownership. She was delivered spring 1994. After just a couple of years cruising, and competing with her at the Swan Regattas, he decided he wanted to concentrate more on the performance side of sailing.

So SOTTO VOCE was specified and ordered in the summer 1996. She was delivered a year later in the summer 1997. From the beginning, she sported the dark blue hull colour and included in her special build was:

• Regatta hull and deck laminate (making her 5 tonnes lighter than a standard Swan 60).
• Regatta fin bulb keel of 3.7m and custom.
• Upgraded winch package.

During this ownership, she was professionally run and maintained. Among her many race successes were, a first in Les Voiles de Tropez in 2000 and second in the 2002 Swan World Cup.

She was then sold in 2002 to Belgians who also raced and renamed her BELLAROSA. She later sold (we believe around 2004) to an Italian and renamed again as NOCE SEI.

After some light use the vessel ended up laid up ashore at Scarlino shipyard and unused for a number of years (more than 10 – maybe 12).

In February 2021 she was bought by the current owners and restored to full sailing standard as befits a Nautor Swan.

Owner’s Comments

We bought SOTTO VOCE in February 2021.

We love the yacht and her performance, quality and style. Initially we had ideas to do charter but found we could not do this to such a yacht.
November 2021 – June 2022, we made Atlantic crossings (Malta – Malta via Capo Verde, Caribbean season island hopping back via the Azores).

More recently, we have time constraints for sailing due to work and family obligations. From October 2023, she was up on the hard until November 2024. Hence, our beauty is for sale.

From autumn 2024 we have worked hard and spent lots of money to bring her up to a high standard (sadly she had sat unused ashore a year).

• She has been beautifully painted with Alex Seal paints, giving her a striking new look.
• We have fitted a brand-new membrane mainsail, along with different size headsails tailored for various wind conditions throughout the year.
• Maintenance: after a year ashore, we conducted thorough maintenance, including a complete inspection and service of all systems, including:
• Underwater works: we addressed all under water-line items, including a complete stripping of the old antifouling, application of a fresh epoxy primer, and three new coats of antifouling. All Blakes seacocks have been stripped and serviced. New PSS shaft seal. A brand new JP3 rudder bearing has been installed by Prolink. We replaced the cutlass bearing to ensure optimal performance we used Vesconite. The propeller pitch has been optimized for better efficiency. A full overhaul of the engine cooling system was completed, ensuring reliability.
• In July 2025 in Palma – engine driven fridge systems checked and serviced with new CO2 gas.

We have sailed SOTTO VOCE from our homeport in Malta to Valencia to facilitate a sale and have priced her attractively. She sails under Maltese flag and has commercial coding for 12NM charters (though we never chartered her). We got her coded recently, and due to not having the CE certification (she was built before that was introduced), we had to do a lot of surveys and tests done to support the letter of conformity. That was an investment in itself, and a benefit for anyone who would want to use her in charter.
