Broker’s Comments

The Eagle 44 is amongst the most beautiful yachts designed in recent years. Her elegant lines are timeless and strongly reminiscent of a small J Class yacht, which is unsurprising given that the naval architects specialise in the refit of many of today’s J Class racing yachts.

Unique to the Eagle 44 is the remarkably large cockpit, offering comfortable seating for many, together with a spacious and expandable cockpit table incorporating an integrated refrigeration compartment, sink and tap, storage, and a chart plotter conveniently placed at the aft end.

Her large, beautifully crafted wheel makes helming to leeward a supremely comfortable and enjoyable experience, thanks to her generous and well-balanced sail plan and lightness on the helm.

Sail controls are close at hand and entirely push-button operated; with reversible winches for jib and spinnaker, and a captive winch for the mainsail, there is little need to handle a rope at all.

HALCYON’s upwind sails have been replaced with North 3Di, which remain in excellent condition, having been lightly used during her two ownerships. She also carries a furling asymmetric spinnaker and another in a spinnaker sock, enabling her to turn heads both on the regatta circuit and at her mooring.

The aft deck is particularly generous, featuring a custom bathing ladder that clips into place, with a deck shower close by and substantial storage beneath. Internally, although headroom is limited, there is comfortable sitting headroom, a discreetly concealed heads behind the cabinetry, a large double berth in the bow, and storage cabinets to either side. Ample natural light floods in through the tinted roof panels aft, complemented by an opening hatch above the berth.

Sail handling is made simple with the central electrically powered winch for halyards and reefing, while the jib is set on a below-deck furler.

HALCYON has proved an instant favourite in the office, being one of the most pleasurable yachts to sail single-handed. She is superbly specified, thoughtfully laid out, and an absolute joy to helm – certain to provide her next owner with many years of enjoyment.

Manufacturer’s Comments

The Eagle 44 is a 13.3-meter, fast daysailer with classic lines designed by J-class specialist Dykstra Naval Architects. Her long overhangs gives the yacht an elegant look and with the use of modern materials, and a modern keel, the Eagle 44 is fast. The large open cockpit features optional electric winches that can be controlled from the helmsman’s position making single-handed sailing possible. The interior features a double bed and electric toilet. A shower can be used in the cockpit or on the aft deck. Requiring very little maintenance, owners will be able to use the yacht for her true purpose: sailing as sailing is meant to be. Eagle 44: breath-taking.
