It is impressive to step aboard a flybridge motor yacht that manages to offer so much of the superyacht experience without the requirement for crew.
At just 62 feet, Pearl 62 U2 BABY delivers more than many of her competitors without compromising on space. The clever design by renowned naval architect Bill Dixon maximises every available inch, creating a yacht that feels considerably larger than her length suggests. Four generous double cabins, including a full-beam master suite with its own private entrance, provide exceptional flexibility for family and guests, while the exceptionally large flybridge creates an outstanding social space.
Powered by Volvo Penta IPS 1200s, the yacht is remarkably responsive and intuitive to handle. Joystick control and Dynamic Positioning make manoeuvring surprisingly straightforward, whether entering a marina, coming alongside or holding position. There is a dedicated jet ski garage and high-low hydraulic platform, with the capacity to carry a Williams tender, meaning the toys can come along too, without compromising the yacht’s clean lines or generous bathing area.
U2 BABY is a later example of the Pearl 62, a model that made its mark by squeezing an impressive amount of living space and comfort into a relatively compact package. Launched in 2020, the 62 was a fresh expression of Pearl’s collaboration with designer Bill Dixon and interior designer Kelly Hoppen, and quickly attracted attention for its innovative layout and contemporary styling.
Built in 2024 and privately owned from new, U2 BABY has been exceptionally well cared for and lightly used. Her meticulous presentation reflects the attention lavished on her by her owners, leaving her in notably fresh condition and ready for plenty more cruising.
Inside, the influence of world-renowned designer Kelly Hoppen adds a distinctive character. Contemporary, sophisticated and unmistakably individual, the interior gives U2 BABY a look and feel that sets her apart from much of the competition. It is a design that feels luxurious without being overly formal, creating spaces that are equally suited to entertaining or simply relaxing in quiet comfort.
And there is plenty of activity to be had. The flybridge is made for sociable days afloat, lunch in the sunshine, drinks as the afternoon develops and evenings spent watching the light disappear over the horizon.
The main saloon extends that sense of openness, with generous glazing and a natural connection between the interior and the outside spaces.
Yet the yacht never feels as though it is designed only for entertaining. There are quieter corners throughout, places to retreat with a book, enjoy an early-morning coffee or simply watch the water without interruption. That balance between social space and privacy is one of the Pearl 62’s defining qualities.
On deck, U2 BABY is unusually well equipped for a yacht of her size, with the details clearly chosen for practical cruising as much as comfort. Highlights include a hydraulic bathing platform, Opacmare telescopic passerelle and upgraded Ultramarine stainless-steel anchor, while the flybridge benefits from an electric-opening hardtop, full exterior upholstery and wet bar.
Synthetic teak extends across the flybridge, cockpit, bathing platform, side decks and foredeck, with underwater lighting and a full set of exterior covers completing a particularly polished outdoor setup.
For a yacht of this size, the ability to handle her confidently as a couple changes the whole experience. There is no sense that running a 62-foot yacht needs to become a logistical exercise or require a crew. Instead, U2 BABY feels remarkably easy to manage, allowing the focus to remain where it should be; on enjoying the boat, the company and the freedom of being on the water.
With U2 BABY’s owner now looking to upgrade to a larger yacht, the timing could hardly be better for a prospective buyer. She has been treated as a yacht to be enjoyed and looked after in equal measure, and that care shows. With little use, an immaculate presentation and no obvious work waiting in the wings, she offers the rare luxury of starting from day one with nothing on the list; simply step aboard and go.
