Discovery 58, KARIBU (Welcome! In Swahili) is now for sale
December 29th, 2022
Discovery 58, KARIBU was handed over to her current original owners in 2016. Her specification is vast and the brief was to prepare her for a world trip. With her stunning flag blue topsides livery and timeless good looks from Ron Holland, she was one of the last of these extraordinary yachts to launch.
Plans have changed and hence she is yet to cross an ocean, she shows under 2,000 hours on the Yanmar main engine and the 7kW Onan generator has only just broken the 500 hour barrier. She has been professionally maintained from Day One and she is in sparkling good shape. KARIBU has now completed her autumnal service period and will be ready in the spring for her new owners to throw off the lines and head out to sea.
Do have a look at this video to see KARIBU on deck and below:
The Discovery 58 provides airy and light accommodation with a genuine deck saloon and interior watch keeping, together with a vast owners’ stateroom with vertical hull windows and a large en-suite heads compartment and separated shower. KARIBU also has a stunning stainless hammered basin.
Then is a large and galley with masses of work space and refrigeration and lots of natural ventilation. There are 2 guest cabins forward sharing another en-suite, one of which is a VIP double cabin, the other a spacious upper and lower berth cabin.
Unlike most of her sisters, KARIBU also has a fourth single berth skippers’ cabin with access to the engine room. The interior joinery is in crown cut oak with crocodile textured inlays throughout in grey to match the leather upholstery in the main saloon. Her interior has been overseen by a talented interior designer so she is very special below.
On deck with her automated Solent rig, sails from Kemp including a cruising chute and snuffer, she is easily sailed short-handed with all controls in the cockpit. She also has proportional bow and stern thrusters. Her Brig F330T RIB with 20hp Yamaha makes trips ashore comfortable and quick.
KARIBU has tropical air conditioning including a new unit in the main saloon in 2022 and separate diesel heating for cooler climes.
Her navionics are from Raymarine and she has GSM Wifi and for audio visual she uses Fusion and Apple TV.
There are clever custom touches throughout the yacht as a result of enormous input from these owners during her build, and the result is very special.
