It’s fair to say that the Berthon Sales Group & Solaris Yachts are having a stellar 2021 summer season!
The Solent’s Round the Island Race 2021 took place recently on the 3rd July, and proud owner of Solaris 44, VOLARE, Michael Wand, saw his yacht come first in the Class 4 ISC Handicap. Along with a couple of friends, his yacht was crewed by the Berthon Boat Company’s Managing Director Brian May, our Solaris New Yacht Sales Broker Alan McIlroy and Performance Yacht Broker Ben Cooper. It was an early 7am start for the crew in typical, flat, British summer drizzle, light winds and with a strong ebb tide.
After making a good start up to The Needles, a close reach to St. Katherine’s on a Code 0 saw them already ahead of time. Expert tactical sailing followed as they rounded the Isle of Wight with A2’s and Code 0s and a final, exciting beat with the genoa saw VOALRE fly in to a 1st place finish, with other yachts close at hand. The yacht’s performance exceeded expectations on all points of sailing. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and the fabulous result speaks volumes for this exceptional yacht and her brand.
Solaris Yachts have held many exciting events so far this season. The ever popular sea trial days went ahead in the Gulf of Trieste and in the Argentario waters South of Tuscany. Following an appearance at the Palma Superyacht Show, the Solaris 50 was made available for sea trials at Mallorca’s Puerto Portals. These fantastic events have given existing clients and future Solaris owners alike the opportunity to trial various yachts in the Solaris range. There will be more sea trial events in the future and we will keep you posted on how to get involved.
In the most recent event, the Solaris Yachts family came together at Porto Rotonda, Sardinia for the Solaris Days & Solaris Cup 2021. Here, Solaris offers owners of every Solaris built since 1974 the opportunity to compete against each other and enjoy relaxed hospitality in this idyllic location. Solaris yacht owner, John McDonnell, thoroughly enjoyed both the onshore hospitality and racing his Solaris 64 RS, LUMINOUS, bought via Berthon International – he has promised to return for the Solaris Cup 2022!
In other Solaris news, we are following the progress of two new yachts currently in build for Berthon clients at the Solaris yard in Aquileia. Hull and deck of the Solaris 44#026 is in the process of being bonded together this week. She is on schedule to be delivered to her very excited new owner at the end of July.
The build of Solaris 55#023 is also well underway and due for delivery in early 2022.
The Berthon Sales Group are delighted to have been recently appointed Solaris agents for the North East Coast of the USA. Berthon USA have already taken delivery of new Solaris 50#054, ZOUK for Berthon clients and is looking forward to developing the brand’s profile in the States.
