The 20 ton Berthon 50 NORTHELE was designed by A K Balfour, for the 10 metre class rule, and built at the Berthon Boat Company during his tenure as yard manager at Berthon.
She launched in 1949 and is a captivatingly pretty classic yacht built of Honduras Mahogany and Burma Teak. Down the years she has enjoyed a series of caring owners who have sailed her enthusiastically and loved her much. Her good looks have always ensured that she is a show stopper in every anchorage.
In the 2000s she has enjoyed a series of refits to replace fastenings where needed, replace galvanised frames that were past their best, to keep her sailing and in good heart.
Today she has a good rig, and her structure is all on point. However, she does now need to visit the ‘Big Blue Sheds’ for some Berthon style TLC to make her glisten.
To recognise the fact that a nautical makeover is now required, we have been asked by her owner to drop her price to a modest €75,000 and to find her new custodian.
