Oyster 655, DAENA – plug & play bluewater cruising
January 3rd, 2023
Oyster 655, DAENA, from 2009, Rob Humphreys and Landamores to a massively high specification at build. She is now in her third ownership, and has been cherished, she has only been used for Mediterranean sailing and has never crossed an ocean.
DAENA is in sparkling condition, and we particularly love her immaculate, understated teak interior finished in satin varnish with grooved teak floors. We videoed her recently on deck and down below and you can see how she looks here:
Her Hall spars automated cutter rig was totally refitted in Palma in 2018, including service and replacement of the rod rigging. The rig was repainted at that time. During this service period a lot of other upgrades were also carried out and the total refit cost was circa €250,000.
Her North Sails from 2015 have been regularly serviced and look good.
DAENA’s teak deck is original but is in great shape for its age and she has recent Weathermax covers including spray hood and bimini.
Down below you will find a spacious and light owners’ stateroom with en-suite head and separated shower. Access to the machinery is straight forward from the passageway leading to the main saloon and outboard is a single skipper’s cabin which has been designed with masses of storage for the spares and equipment needed for the round the world cruise originally planned but never executed by her first owner.
The galley is very well equipped and DAENA will be sold with all her galley and domestic equipment, including towels and bedding, so she really is a going concern.
The main saloon has an extended table and a practical amidships 2 person bench for comfortable dining for all aboard. Forward there is a Jack and Jill heads compartment for the port cabin which also doubles as a day head. This cabin has an upper and lower berth and the lower berth extends to make a double as you wish. A VIP cabin is to starboard, again with its own heads compartment.
The engine has only 3,500 hours and the 17.kW Onan generator 2,700 hours. She comes with central heating, air conditioning, Raymarine electronics, Sat C, icemaker, dishwasher and washer dryer.
Her current owner has loved sailing DAENA with his family, but he now wishes to purchase a larger bluewater cruising yacht to accommodate the family and friends that join him, which is why she is being offered for sale.
