Today we thought we would take the opportunity to draw your attention to a couple of Solaris Yachts videos we posted to our YouTube channel recently. Interestingly, they give us insight in to two very different yachts from the Solaris boatyard – with both sharing that common DNA that sets Solaris apart.
Solaris 72 DH PLUM, from 2002, was specifically commissioned to ply the planets oceans and by this, we do not just mean the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
This was a much more expansive circumnavigation – culminating in a west to east transit of the North West passage.

PLUM’s fit out exemplifies all that is good about Solaris build quality – from the moulding of her hull and deck which marries style, function and strength, to the seaman like sail plan; a robust, easily managed and flexible yacht which delivers powerful offshore performance.
Below decks, she is all about practical use and comfort for a family and guests. While underway, she provides a safe home in some of the planets more extreme environments – be they tropical or arctic.
Fast forward to 2022 and we step aboard the new Xavier Soto Acebal design Solaris 40 – the Mini Cooper works of the Solaris range.
The first thing that confronts you are the innovative and strikingly clean lines. Next comes the clutter free wide side decks, low profile coach roof, flush hatches and the detail of the flush locker lids. Moving aft, we see the fact that the side decks stop short of the twin helm positions – leading to full width cockpit and her very cool transom.
Like all her bigger sisters, the order of the day is easily managed performance with all lines leading aft to two banks of jammers. The long waterline, wide beam deep keel and twin balance rudders give the yacht stiffness to support a powerful sail plan.
Stepping below decks, her well-appointed interior belies her 40ft LOA, as she feels much larger. This particular example features metical blue steel topsides, full teak decks and a light Alpe interior, which all adds to create a distinctly modern looking performance cruising yacht.
