Windy have recently announced the launch of the new Windy SLR60/SR60, which has been designed in co-operation with Malcolm Mckeon Yacht Design. Malcolm was intrinsic to the design of the renowned SR52 Blackbird, which launched Windy into the super yacht sector.
Windy have always been known for the ability of their yachts and the SLR60/SR60 is no exception. Her hull has been designed to operate in rough conditions with minimal spray, which has been reflected in the generous flare to the bow and multiple chines in the hull.
The 800nm range and ability of the SLR60/SR60 makes it possible for her to work independently from the mother ship, opening up a whole range of potential benefits. This might include independent expeditions for guests, forward scouting and the ability to make provision runs from more isolated cruising areas and anchorages.
The SLR60/SR60 offers a social cockpit with safe walk around side decks and plenty of protected seating area for guests. There is the great option of a sunbathing space forward, a large aft sun pad and range of T-top and canvas configurations. Windy can also offer Bedouin style bimini sunshades with carbon poles, which can easily be deployed.
The Volvo IPS system is a great feature and allows the SLR60/SR60 to be easily managed short handed with the Joystick docking system. The joystick allows the yacht to precisely manoeuvre in confined spaces, when coming alongside the mothership or when picking up guests.
The refined driving experience and comfort of the SLR60/SR60 when underway truly does set this yacht apart from the competition. Windy even offer the yacht with Humphree interceptors as standard and the option of a gyro stabilisation system.
The DPS (sky hook) station hold option allows the SLR60/SR60 to automatically hold her position and heading without the need to drop anchor.
The yacht has been designed with two luxurious cabins and interior design from LIAIGRE, which can be specified with either a 2+2 or 2+1 set up.
There is a well-appointed wet bar positioned in the cockpit and additional top stowing cold lockers in the deck for food and drinks. A practical, large lazarette is positioned forward for stowage of water toys, fenders and equipment.
The SLR60/SR60 would work well as a sleek and uncompromising day boat or weekender, with expansive deck space, luxurious interior design and first-class performance.
