The Supermarine Swordfish 36 Grand Tourer FLAMBOYANT is an absolute stunner that combines timeless offshore racing pedigree with modern luxury. Built as a modern GRP take on the famous Fairey stable’s designs of the 1960’s, she was conceived by David Skellon of Supermarine and designed by the legendary Alan Burnard. This fast, sea-sure cruiser therefore shares an impeccable bloodline, with a deeply flared bow, softly streamlined deep-vee hull, and head-turning style. As with his Fairey Marine designs, Alan Burnard’s naval architecture affords her an exceptionally “soft” ride through rougher water, and it is this vessel’s ability to deal with heavy seas that really sets her apart, giving her occupants a comfortable ride in the most demanding of circumstances.

Her clean, modern interior offers sheer luxury for Owner and guests alike, with her powerful Yanmar diesels give her excellent performance. At Berthon we have known FLAMBOYANT from the egg, and her owners have attended to her needs diligently. We note that she underwent a major engine-out refit 2018, also gaining new paint, Coppercoat antifouling, proportional bow & stern thrusters, a new fire suppression kit and full new suite of navigational aids, with the refit being overseen by a noted marine surveyor. We note that FLAMBOYANT is wintered ashore undercover – from November through to February.

Owner’s Comments

FLAMBOYANT is a real thing of beauty. I hear this on virtually every visit to the marina. It is very rare that anyone will walk by FLAMBOYANT and not comment on the lines, structure, or exhaust note (if the engines are running) with positive remarks and superlative detail. Mission accomplished in design brief, an Aston Martin of the seas!

With a top speed of 34 – 36 knots and exemplary sea keeping, FLAMBOYANT is a pleasure. Hitting a destination easily and then having the space to rest and relax in comfort and safety. Delivering twin cabin, twin head privacy is a unique design masterpiece on a craft of this size. I cannot think of anything further that is required to enhance the “FLAMBOYANT” experience from voyage to accommodation every element is taken care of to maximise the enjoyment and take care of the participants.

Well and truly a classic design a head turner, an object that on sight allows the owner to enjoy every moment of ownership.
