Broker’s Comments

SLOW GIN is an excellent example of this sought-after model from Beneteau. The Beneteau Oceanis 523 is easy to handle when short-handed yet equally capable of carrying a full crew around a racecourse.

On deck, the foredeck is fitted with a windlass serving twin anchor rollers and a deep chain locker. The side decks are uncluttered, with jib-sheet tracks set well inboard along the cabin trunk. Mast rails are a welcome feature, though with every conceivable line led back to the cockpit, they are almost redundant.

The cockpit works well both as a sailing space and for socialising. Wide, deep-backed seats provide security and comfort in either role, while the fixed table offers a useful bracing point. A pair of doors at the aft end of the cockpit give access to the generous swim platform incorporated into the scoop transom.

Descending the companionway, you enter a spacious saloon. Immediately to starboard is a forward-facing chart table, flanked by the electrical panel and space for instruments. The well-laid-out galley provides ample storage and worktop space, while the saloon seating comfortably accommodates guests—making it an ideal place to relax below. All three cabins feature double berths, each with its own en-suite heads. In addition, there is a forward crew cabin with separate access and its own en-suite, giving four cabins in total—a rare benefit on a yacht of this size.

Seldom available on the UK market, this spacious and powerful family Beneteau is offered with an extensive inventory, including a new mainsail and genoa (2021), bow thruster, Raymarine EBO plotter/GPS/radar, dinghy and outboard, liferaft, cockpit cushions, folding prop, sprayhood and bimini, electric winches, cruising chute, and much more.

Owner’s Comments

SLOW GIN is a fantastic, fast and safe yacht, thanks to her elegant Finot design and longer 2.3m fin keel. With my family, I have enjoyed many happy miles of sailing around the UK, the Channel Islands and France. Under my ownership she has been meticulously cared for, with all on-board systems maintained to a high standard, and major items replaced, overhauled, or upgraded as required. A new set of high-quality Sanders sails, added in 2021, transformed her performance, and now makes for even faster passage-making.
