GRAND LUX, a 2015 Beneteau Sense 55, is a modern, well-equipped, deck-saloon style bluewater cruiser that combines impressive sailing performance with an open, apartment-like interior. Designed by Berret Racoupeau with interiors by Nauta Design, GRAND LUX is the epitome of sailing luxury, combining elegance, comfort, and high-performance sailing, for an unparalleled experience on the water.

On deck, the Sense 55 features a huge aft cockpit with twin wheels, excellent visibility, and a large seating/dining area that easily converts to a lounging sunbathing space. Twin rudders and a beamy, powerful hull deliver control and comfort under sail, while the efficient fractional rig and modern sail plan make passagemaking fast and manageable for a short-handed crew.

Below, the Sense 55 offers a generous three-cabin, three-head layout, with a luxurious forward owner’s suite with an ensuite head and separate shower, two spacious guest cabins with ensuite heads and abundant light and ventilation, and a bright saloon with panoramic windows and a large galley to starboard. Quality joinery, contemporary finishes, and extensive natural light give the interior a sophisticated atmosphere ideal for extended cruising, liveaboard comfort, or entertaining.

The many factory options on GRAND LUX include air-conditioning and heating, a Onan 7KW generator, microwave, washer/dryer, electrically lifting saloon and cockpit dinettes, electrically lifting saloon TV, an extensive sail inventory, an upgraded Dock & Go joystick docking system, electric winches, a captain’s cabin in the port cockpit cabin, custom bedding, and an extensive assortment of spare parts and tools.
GRAND LUX is in like-new condition and has been meticulously maintained by her one owner since new and has benefited from regular updates and servicing:

Owner’s Comments

GRAND LUX was purchased new and delivered from the Beneteau factory in France to Singapore. I lived aboard the boat for 5 years before retiring in 2019 to sail around the world. While in Singapore, I used the boat primarily for weekend sailing and short trips to Indonesia and Malaysia. In 2018, GRAND LUX participated in and won the annual Neptune Regatta to the Equator. GRAND LUX left Singapore in September 2019 for Phuket, Thailand and sailed in the Andaman Sea over the winter.

During Covid, GRAND LUX remained in Thailand for 2 years sailing between Myanmar and Malaysia and, in January 2022, we finally set sail south for her grand voyage, reaching the Maldives and the Seychelles, clocking an average of nearly 200 miles/day.

The following year, GRAND LUX reached South Africa and underwent a major refit, including painting the topsides and applying copper coat antifouling to the undersides. The mast, rigging, and engine were also serviced. She then crossed the Atlantic Ocean to Brazil, and then onto the Caribbean, where we have cruised for the last two years. In the spring of 2025, I sailed GRAND LUX to the USA East Coast for an extensive refit in Maryland.

As an engineer obsessed with technical integrity, I have left nothing neglected to ensure the boat remains in pristine, top-notch condition, with safety always a major consideration. With the arrival of grandchildren and the desire to return home after 30 years abroad, along with other priorities, I have arrived at the difficult decision to sell GRAND LUX. To ensure a smooth transition to the new owner, I am willing to deliver the boat to pretty much any destination on the planet.
