These Targa 47 GT (Grand Turismo’s) are simply superb all-rounders in the two-cabin hardtop market. Sitting on a very well-proven and seasure Olesinki hull, she is very capable in a wide range of conditions, and her current Owners have valued her hassle-free channel-crossing ability from her home port of Guernsey.
The design provides for a massive, level cockpit area, with plenty of comfortable seating, a powered hardtop for ventilation or shelter, fully equipped wetbar, and a practical tender garage to store your RIB out of sight. With a new set of canopies, her aft area can be open – with a vast sunpad atop the garage moulding, or enclosed when the weather is not quite so friendly. The two-piece windscreen and signature half-moon side windows provide plenty of light and excellent visibility from the helm station, with the entire deck being laid in teak to prevent glare.
One of the huge positives of the 47 is the uncomplicated and robust nature of her engine and drive set-up. She is fitted with well-serviced Volvo Penta D9-575 upgrade diesels, which drives a pair of shafts; so, none of the extra servicing of sterndrive propulsion, and (with a top end of around 30 knots) she is no slouch either. Engine access to her drivetrain machinery is directly through the hinged hatch in the cockpit floor, with bright LED lighting and generous space, this is a great benefit for inspection and daily checks. Her generator, batteries, chargers, and exhausts are set under the garage moulding – neatly installed and reachable – with masses of storage volume available too.
Cloud Nine has been variously modernised, with a recent 16” Garmin plotter and radar to assist the skipper, replacement cockpit upholstery, and she feels fresh and lovingly maintained. With electric bow & stern thrusters, the reliable grip of a shaft-drive set-up and a low-slung profile, she is great to handle in close confines, with precise EVC electronic throttles and remote SidePower pendant.
Below decks the companionway leads to the 47’s trump card – an open, inviting saloon lounge, with a fully-equipped galley opposite. Trimmed in deeply-cushioned buttercream leather with cream carpets set against rich, high-gloss American Cherry joinery – she is classic Fairline: opulent, classy, and calm. The large fridge, twin sinks, timber floor, and masses of stowage volume are practical yet refined, and there is plenty of worktop area. Forward of the lounge, the private Master cabin has a large raised double berth, ensuite heads with a walk-in shower, hanging locker and TV. The separate aft cabin has two single level berths, an ensuite heads with walk-in shower, also a double wardrobe and TV – so all crew are well looked after!
So, if you are after sportscar handling, efficient, and straightforward propulsion, all-weather operation, and the utility of two separate cabin and ensuites – then this Fairline Targa 47 GT is very hard to beat!
Having moved from a larger trawler yacht and being used to ambling along at around 8 knots, CLOUD NINE was a revelation in terms of speed and amazing sea keeping.
We are happy cruising at around 20 knots but with a clean bottom she will achieve over 32knots. We have the utmost confidence in her ability to continue safely and comfortably in lively sea conditions and are happy to confirm that she really lives up to her reputation as one of the best hulls to be produced by Fairline.
Having undertaken several singlehanded passages, I can also vouch for her good manners in and around marina’s where the addition of remote thrusters allows safe movement around the decks whilst handling mooring warps. You may notice from the notes and video that she has been well cared for and regularly serviced and updated to ensure reliability and comfort.
We look forward to handing her to her new adventurers and hope she continues to bring pleasure for many years to come.
