Designed by the renowned Bernard Olesinski, the Fairline Phantom 40 launched into a market hungry for a boat that could bridge the gap between sports cruiser handling and flybridge comfort. And it’s not just the sporty lines where she delivers, with a top speed of 31 knots from her twin Volvo Penta D6 370hp engines, she’s no slouch and is fun to drive. Her variable deep-V hull was built to lure sports yacht enthusiasts into the flybridge cruiser market, and the Phantom 40 remains a popular choice.
PIRATES CODE is presented in outstanding order following a SETAG refit in 2025 that has left her gleaming both cosmetically and mechanically. The hull has been blasted and copper coated, the port engine replaced by the Volvo Penta main dealer (and offered with the remainder of its two-year warranty), and the entire navigation suite brought bang up to date with a full complement of new Raymarine electronics at both helm and flybridge stations. A new Fischer Panda generator and reverse-cycle tropical air conditioning system have been installed to keep her comfortable whatever the climate, while four fresh service batteries, new carpets and new curtains round out a programme of ongoing careful stewardship. SETAG also reconfigured the lower helm seating for easier access fore and aft, a change that makes a real difference to everyday usability.
The original starboard engine has clocked just 413 hours, and with the boat running beautifully, there’s still plenty of exploring left in her. This is a boat that has benefited from a proactive owner who invested in getting things right, leaving a well serviced and low-hours, warrantied powertrain for her next custodian. Expect a comfortable 24-knot cruise and a 31-knot top end, with a useful 330nm range at cruising speed.
Below decks she sleeps four across two well-proportioned cabins, each served by its own heads and shower, while the saloon and galley strike that classic Fairline balance of sociability and privacy. The aft cockpit and flybridge offer generous entertaining space, and thoughtful custom touches throughout speak of an owner who used and loved this boat rather than simply kept her.
Now offered for sale only because her owner has moved up to a larger yacht, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a Phantom 40 that has had the right money and care spent on her.
