Every so often a boat comes along that’s simply a cut above, and U2 Baby is one of those.
She’s Hull 23 of the award-winning Pearl 62 range, a model that has 24 boats globally, with Pearl having refined the build throughout. What sets U2 Baby apart is how she was specified: her owner spent time talking to other Pearl 62 owners before committing to the build and used that first-hand knowledge to option her properly, not just ticking boxes, but choosing what actually makes a difference in real use.
U2 Baby comes loaded. Seakeeper SK9 gyro stabilisation, a hardtop with electric opening sunroof, variable speed bow and stern thrusters, Volvo Dynamic Positioning, 20.5kW Kohler generator (upgraded from standard), Mediterranean-specification reverse cycle air conditioning to every cabin and head, an Idromar 180 litre/hour watermaker, and a full four-screen Garmin electronics suite with 48″ open-array radar & AIS. Full specification to below, and it makes for very good reading.
Her sole owner has been fastidious. Every service has been kept bang up to date, she’s never been chartered, and with under 150 hours on the clock she is, quite simply, as close to new as a 2024 example gets. Cleaned relentlessly inside and out, and it shows the moment you step aboard. We have some fantastic photography of her in use that does her real justice.
Layout-wise, this is the best owner’s suite in class, full beam, with its own separate entrance to the master, alongside three further double cabins. There’s a jetski garage too, with the hi-low bathing platform rated to lift a Williams 345 tender.
Step out of the sun and into that Kelly Hoppen “Luxury” interior scheme and the whole boat just calms you down, dark, cool, beautifully finished, exactly when you need it having spent the day on the water. And she performs as good as she looks. Twin Volvo Penta IPS1200 pod drives push her to a genuinely effortless 24-knot cruise, sipping around 10 litres per nautical mile, with a 32-knot top end on tap when you want to prove a point. That kind of balance between economy and outright pace tells you everything about how well this hull has been engineered.
The only reason she’s on the market is that her owner is stepping up to something larger, which is, frankly, a gift for the next owner. A genuine turnkey 60ft flybridge yacht in immaculate condition, ready for her next owners.
Motor Boat & Yachting – August 2020:
“The four-cabin 62 is a triumph of packaging with a show-stopping interior and effortless cruising legs.”
“… this is Hoppen’s finest Pearl interior to date, treading the line between invention and practicality to perfection.”
“From the lower helm, the experience is church-quiet, refined, and smooth …”
“… impressive value in this sector, yet shows no sign of corner-cutting; one look inside the engine room and it’s clear this is a boat that has been put together properly.”
