It goes without saying we are big fans of the Discovery 55 here at Berthon. What initially started out as an idea to build the ultimate 55ft bluewater yacht—geared around ease of handling, seakeeping, performance, and comfort – evolved into the Discovery 55, which has since gained cult status and a loyal following.

DANDILYON X is a superb example, and having passed through our hands on a number of occasions, we feel we know her quite well. The level of recent updates is really what sets her apart. While she enjoys all the enduring qualities a Discovery 55 delivers, she also benefits from a host of recent upgrades adding to her attraction for an incoming owner: new topside paint, new saloon windows, a new jib, new standing and running rigging (Dyneema), updated electronics, and a new tender – to list just a few.

For those seeking a good-to-go Discovery 55, DANDILYON X is certainly worthy of inspection.

Owner’s Comments

DANDILYON X has taken good care of us as we cruised the Mediterranean over the last five years, and we have taken good care of her in return – with extensive upgrades and diligent maintenance over the same period.

The electric furling upgrade on the foresails made short-handed sailing substantially easier and cleared the foredeck of the old roller furling lines. The arm-mounted Axiom at the nav station allowed us to flatten the nav station desk for easier use and better visibility. The new jib added last year vastly improved her performance to weather. Starlink simplifies our shore communications, and the new variable-speed water pump provides great pressure very quietly. Her new upholstery and cockpit enclosure (including the dodger and bimini) keep us dry and comfortable through all seasons, and her new dark blue topsides continue to turn heads.

While all of these upgrades enhanced the quality of our cruising hours, our regular maintenance regime has ensured that DANDILYON X remains a reliable, efficient yacht ready for any weather or situation. This includes annual engine and generator services (including the 3,000-hour major service), deck trimming, sanding, and Boracol treatments, as well as regular bottom cleaning, antifouling, and Propspeed applications.

We are currently looking to scale up our cruising adventure with a larger bluewater yacht, so we have reluctantly placed DANDILYON X on the market for her next journey.
