When Jason Ker designed the MC60 as an update from the well-received MC50, the focus was not only on performance – as is inherent in all the DNA of a Ker designed yacht, but also on the creature comforts, and making the best use of space possible. Many catamarans are designed with both indoor and outdoor space, but become a compromise, by making two identical small areas, separated into indoor and outdoor (by a door of course).
What if the space could be just one, but give the best of both worlds? With the cleverly designed sliding windows and doors, the MC60 achieves this, giving light and space in one large and flowing area, protected from the environment, or a shaded and open area, that is connected and sociable to the rest of the yacht. For sun lovers, there is still a large amount of deck space forward of the mast, and the flybridge that gives a great 360 degree view, with all the sail controls lead to power winches.
McConaghy MC60, BYZANTINE sails beautifully and she is very capable of being run with or without crew. She is very simple in terms of maintenance and has been kept to schedule to give a carefree handover to the next owner.
BYZANTINE was bought by her current owner in 2020 and has been very lightly used. She was delivered new to the USA and has enjoyed brief spells in the Caribbean, Florida and Texas. She has been well looked after by a professional captain so she is always looking her best and all systems are up to scratch. This owner has enjoyed her for some regattas, and some fast cruising.
Exploring the Accommodation and Deck Equipment of McConaghy MC60, BYZANTINE
Below decks, BYZANTINE is a huge Tardis, finished to a very high standard. She sports the owner’s layout, with the starboard hull as one en-suite with large island double, walkthrough dressing area and private lounge area.
The port hull comprises of one double VIP cabin and one twin cabin, both en-suite.
The saloon offers panoramic views and plenty of seating around the dining table. With the sliding doors open, the saloon flows effortlessly to the outdoor flybridge with its twin helm positions and further comfortable seating.
The forward facing navigation Station gives a full 360o view and more L-shaped seating with coffee table to starboard.
BYZANTINE’s powerful rig is beautifully made by Marstrom, with a large mainsail with deep reefing, held up with carbon rigging to give ultimate performance, should you wish to regatta, or at the very least increasing the righting moment for cruising and less roll at anchor.
